On October 27, 2025, the Zephyr Project community gathered in the city of Seville for an in-person meetup hosted by Microchip Technology. Held at Meliá Sevilla, the event brought together developers, engineers, and open source enthusiasts for an evening of technical insights, collaboration, and networking.
Taking place just ahead of the European Microchip MASTERs 2025 Conference, the meetup offered attendees a unique opportunity to connect with the Zephyr ecosystem.
The meetup brought together developers, engineers, and open source enthusiasts from a variety of backgrounds. Whether experienced in Zephyr or just getting started, participants had the chance to connect, learn, and exchange ideas in an open and collaborative environment.
The evening began with welcome drinks and snacks, followed by an introduction to Zephyr-related activities at Microchip and ongoing efforts to enhance support across their hardware platforms.
Session Highlights:
The agenda featured a range of sessions focused on practical applications and real-world use cases of Zephyr:
Zephyr @ Microchip
An overview of current initiatives, including improving hardware support, addressing security and reliability, and contributing to the broader open source ecosystem.
Zephyr at Scale – Shipping Secure and Maintainable Devices
Insights into building and maintaining multiple globally deployed products using Zephyr, including CI pipelines, device servicing, and managing reusable code across projects.
Smart Motor Control with Zephyr
A practical walkthrough of implementing a motor control application, highlighting development challenges and effective solutions using Zephyr’s modular design.
Zephyr Squared
A closer look into running Linux and Zephyr side by side using asymmetric multiprocessing (AMP), demonstrating new possibilities for complex embedded systems.
Throughout the sessions, attendees explored:
- Real-world Zephyr-based products and deployments
- Development workflows and best practices
- Integration with different hardware platforms and architectures
- Advanced system designs combining RTOS and general-purpose operating systems
The talks reflected the growing adoption of Zephyr in production environments and its flexibility across a wide range of use cases.
