The Zephyr Project community is heading to Wrocław, Poland!
Join us on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, for an in-person Zephyr Project Meetup organized and hosted by the GoodByte team.
This meetup is open to anyone interested in the Zephyr ecosystem, open source, embedded systems, and modern embedded software development. Whether you work with Zephyr every day, contribute to the project, use it in products, or are just beginning to explore real-time operating systems, this gathering is a great opportunity to learn, connect, and exchange ideas with the community.
Come by, meet people from the industry, share experiences, and talk about Zephyr, open source, and the future of embedded development.
What to Expect
The meetup will bring together developers, users, contributors, and organizations working with or interested in the Zephyr RTOS. Attendees will have the chance to hear from community members, explore practical Zephyr use cases, and connect with others building with open source embedded technologies.
Attendees can expect to:
- Learn from technical talks and real-world Zephyr experiences
- Connect with embedded systems developers and open source contributors
- Explore modern embedded development practices
- Meet community members from across the Zephyr ecosystem
- Discover new ways to get involved in the project
Agenda:
5:30 pm – 6:00 pm – Welcome drinks & snacks
5:55 pm – 6:00 pm – Welcome Note – GoodByte team
6:00 pm – 6:25 pm – Arkadiusz Grzelka – Zephyr DX: AI agents as your teammates
The role of an embedded systems engineer is changing – soon, instead of writing every single line of code by hand, we will become orchestrators managing the work of specialized assistants. During the presentation, Arek will show how to integrate AI agents with the Zephyr RTOS ecosystem, so they can take over the tedious work of navigating DeviceTree, Kconfig files, and west commands.
You will see in practice what this new work model looks like – intent-based development – where your main job is to define goals and verify the architecture, instead of fighting with low-level syntax. This session will show you how to radically change your Developer Experience by handing over the dirty work to digital teammates, so you can focus on systems engineering.
6:30 pm – 6:55 pm – Paweł Jachimowski – Zephyr on Pico2: low-cost prototyping with a professional RTOS
Raspberry Pi Pico 2 is one of the most popular boards among hobbyists and engineers, and recently it has also become possible to program it with Zephyr RTOS instead of the native Pico SDK. In this talk, Paweł will learn how to run Zephyr on the RP2350, what currently works, and where the traps are. You will see a comparison between working with Zephyr and the native Pico SDK, as well as how a prototype built on an easily available board can later be moved to target hardware without much pain.
6:55 pm – 7:10 pm – Break Time
7:10 pm – 7:35 pm – Mieszko Mieruński – Everything you wanted to know about UART in Zephyr
UART is one of the first peripherals you learn about when starting with embedded development. With full name Universal Asynchronous Receiver-Transmitter, the “Universal” part made it go-to protocol for wide area of use-cases, while “Asynchronous” part made it somewhat hard to implement reliably.
In this talk I will go over UART APIs in Zephyr, why there is 3 of them, how its related to console, shell and logging, and what are the options to make it more reliable, low-power or both.
7:40 pm – 8:00 pm – Panel discussion with speakers
A dedicated Q&A session with the moderator and audience on Zephyr and its ecosystem.
8:05 pm onwards – Networking Time
