Infinitely Scalable Blackhole™ PCIe Boards

Blackhole™ PCIe boards are infinitely scalable and designed for high performance AI processing.

Featuring 16 Linux-capable RISC-V cores and up to 32 GB of GDDR6 memory per chip, Blackhole™ is Tenstorrent’s strongest processor yet.

Zephyr runs on the the SMC (System Management Controller) and the DMC (Device Management Controller).

The SMC is an ARC hs4xd cluster on the Blackhole™ ASIC that enables high-speed interfaces, is responsible for telemetry, and handles voltage-frequency scaling and power management.

The DMC is an STM32 microcontroller on-board that handles ASIC reset, controls fans, power limits, LEDs, and safely handles thermal events.

The Zephyr RTOS and ecosystem of modules was exactly the advantage that Tenstorrent needed during bring-up of our latest product, Blackhole™. Relying on Zephyr's kernel, support for RISC-V, ARM, and ARC architectures, hardware model, and bootloader allowed us to focus on the tasks necessary for system and device management firmware.

Additionally, by leveraging West and Twister, we were able to tackle hardware-in-the-loop testing with ease, with convenient frameworks such as ZTest and PyTest.

Our customers in the automotive space highly value the work of the Safety Critical WG around the kernel and core libraries.

Tenstorrent looks forward to leveraging Zephyr for our future products!
