Nubo Sentry is an intrinsically safe, battery-powered methane sensor designed for continuous monitoring of critical assets such as tanks, wellheads, compressors, and other locations prone to gas leaks. Utilizing Sensirion’s photo-acoustic spectroscopy technology, it delivers exceptional detection sensitivity combined with highly efficient power management, enabling long-term autonomous operation even in challenging environments like offshore installations.

The compact sensor integrates long-range LoRaWAN for remote connectivity. With its IP65/NEMA 4X enclosure, extensive operating temperature range, and maintenance-free design, Nubo Sentry offers reliable performance without the need for calibration gases or regular servicing.

Powered by Zephyr RTOS, Nubo Sentry benefits from robust firmware featuring deterministic task management, advanced power optimization, and built-in secure connectivity. Leveraging Zephyr’s mature open-source ecosystem and ready-to-use connectivity stacks, the product development was streamlined from initial concept through to industrial-grade certification, ensuring reliability and security for deployment in the field.

Zephyr RTOS enabled my team to rapidly bring Nubo Sentry from concept to production by providing a comprehensive, hardware-agnostic ecosystem, robust power management capabilities, and extensive built-in support for sensors and connectivity. Its modular architecture and active community allowed us to focus on delivering key product features without having to reinvent core functionality.
