Generate, Develop and Visualize Zephyr Platforms and Apps with Visual System Designer and Renode – Michael Gielda, Antmicro

This talk will present an open source, end-to-end flow allowing users to design, generate, build, run and visualize Zephyr applications on custom platforms using the open source Renode simulator and Visual System Designer (VSD), a tool for visual, diagram-based design of custom hardware platforms and systems. VSD builds on Zephyr’s device trees and structured data, allowing system developers to graphically build complex systems through developing a parametrized block diagram from an open source library of real-world components. The tool lets you combine SoCs with external sensors and actuators, connect them over I/O interfaces, and automatically generate the Zephyr platform description and basic application code for testing the interfaces and peripherals. VSD integration with Renode allows developers to seamlessly run the software on a newly designed platform and visualize the running simulation live. Together, they offer a rapid, low-barrier entry into Zephyr based product development with automatic simulation and testing capabilities.
